Challenge 02

Propose solutions to combat unauthorized access to the power grid

Energy loss caused by irregular installations and tampering affects both the quality of service and CPFL's financial results. These illegal practices, such as connections made directly to the power grid without authorization, compromise safety and hinder operations. Although measures such as inspections are already underway, the problem requires more efficient solutions. We are seeking innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, to identify these irregularities with greater precision, reduce losses and ensure a fairer and safer distribution of energy. We use some methods to combat losses (e.g., machine learning techniques), but we seek disruptive approaches that surpass or complement ongoing initiatives, such as pattern recognition and image analysis solutions. Important: solutions should not be limited to the examples provided. We want to hear your proposal!

Take part in this challenge and help protect the electrical system with ideas capable of identifying and combating energy losses in a modern and efficient way.

  • Your solution can reduce financial losses, increase revenue recovery and reliability in energy distribution.

  • Help minimize impacts and extra costs caused by illegal practices of accessing electricity.

  • Contribute to improving the quality and safety of the energy service offered to millions of people.

Expected results:

  • Reduction in the loss rate to less than 7.93% of the total available load, in accordance with the target set by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

  • Improved fraud detection accuracy, minimizing false positives and speeding up the inspection process.
