Challenge 04

Optimize wind farm monitoring

Switchgear is a crucial component that performs several essential functions to ensure the safe and efficient operation of wind turbine substations. It is responsible for protecting and controlling the flow of energy generated by wind turbines.

Ensuring the efficient operation of switchgears in wind farm substations is a major challenge due to the lack of real-time monitoring. Currently, inspections are performed manually, at long intervals, making it difficult to identify critical problems such as gas leaks and overheating points at terminals. These failures, when not detected in time, can lead to unexpected outages and increase operating costs. We are looking for solutions that offer continuous monitoring and automated data analysis, allowing for rapid interventions and reducing the chances of failure.

Sign up for the challenge and present solutions capable of predicting and avoiding failures, increasing the reliability and availability of assets.

  • Develop systems to detect problems before they impact operations, such as leaks or overheating.

  • Promote automation and data analysis to make maintenance faster and more assertive.

  • Help ensure more stable and safe operations by optimizing the lifespan of wind farm equipment.

Expected results:

  • Real-time monitoring of Switchgears of unitary substations/wind turbines in the BOP (Balance of Plant) part of wind farms.

  • Automation of manual data analysis and verification processes.

  • Failure prediction and reduction.

  • Resource management (assertive investments focusing on priorities, ensuring asset resilience, and staying within budget).
